Troubleshooting Your Timberleaf Trailer Inverter

For Timberleaf trailers built 2024 and later with the factory-installed inverter

What the Inverter Does

Your Timberleaf inverter allows you to use your trailer’s regular 120V wall outlets even when you’re off-grid (not plugged into shore power).
It converts battery power to household electricity—so you can charge a phone, run a laptop, or power a CPAP machine from anywhere.

Inverter Power Limit:

  • The inverter is rated for up to 375 watts of continuous output.

  • This is perfect for low-power devices: phone/laptop chargers, tablets, fans, or a CPAP machine.

  • Do not use high-power appliances (coffee makers, hair dryers, toasters, microwaves, or anything with a heating element). These can easily exceed the inverter’s safe limit and will cause it to shut down.

Control:

  • The inverter is switched ON and OFF with a labeled remote switch on your main control panel.

  • There’s no need to access the inverter itself.

Monitoring:

  • All Timberleaf inverters are equipped with a Victron VE.Direct Bluetooth Dongle.

  • This lets you check your inverter’s status and any warnings through the VictronConnect app on your phone or tablet—the same app you use for your solar controller and battery monitor.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

1. No Power at Outlets (While Off-Grid/Battery-Only)

  • Check the remote inverter switch on your control panel.
Make sure the switch is ON.

  • Check your battery level.
If your trailer battery is low, the inverter will not turn on. Recharge the battery, then try again.

  • Try a low-power device.
Plug in something simple: a phone charger, a laptop, or your CPAP machine.

  • Still not working?

    • Open the VictronConnect app on your phone or tablet and select your inverter from the list (just like with your solar and battery monitor).

    • The app will show the inverter’s current status and any error messages (such as low battery or overload).

    • If you see a red or blinking light on the inverter or a warning in the app, see the section below.

2. No Power at Outlets (When Plugged Into Shore Power)

  • Check that your shore power cord is plugged in and the source is working.
You can test the wall outlet with your phone charger or another simple device.

  • Reset all GFCI outlets and check circuit breakers inside your trailer.

  • If your outlets work on shore power but not on battery/inverter, go back to Step 1 above.

  • If your outlets do not work even when plugged into shore power:
Please use our AC outlet troubleshooter for step-by-step help with shore power issues.

3. Inverter Warning Lights or Errors in the App

  • Solid red light or “Overload” warning in the app:
Too much is plugged in. Unplug all devices, then try just one low-power item (like your phone charger or CPAP).

  • Blinking red light or “Low battery” warning in the app:
Battery is too low. Charge your trailer battery, then try again.

  • If the inverter or app still shows a warning after these steps:
Turn the inverter OFF using the remote switch, wait a minute, then turn it back ON.
If it still won’t work, contact Timberleaf for help.

4. Inverter Shuts Off, Makes Noise, or Outlets Flicker

  • Unplug all high-power items (anything with a heating element, or anything rated over 375 watts).

  • Try only a small device. If it works, your inverter was overloaded.

  • If the problem continues even with no devices plugged in, turn off the inverter at the control panel and contact Timberleaf.

Using the VictronConnect App

  • Download the VictronConnect app (if you haven’t already).

  • Open the app and select your inverter by its Bluetooth name.

  • You can view live inverter status, error messages, and basic settings—just like you can with your solar controller and battery monitor.

  • If you see any error or warning in the app that you don’t understand, you can show it to us for quick support.

Safety Reminders

  • Only qualified technicians should open electrical panels, outlets, or the inverter itself.

  • Never attempt to repair, bypass, or modify electrical wiring or any safety device.

  • If you see melted plastic, burning smells, or outlets become hot or discolored—turn off the inverter using the remote switch, unplug from shore power, and contact Timberleaf.
