Order Timing & Availability
Do you have anything ready immediately for sale?
All Timberleaf trailers are made to order. We don’t keep inventory on hand. Occasionally, canceled builds become available and are listed on our website. If you’re seeking a used Timberleaf, check the Timberleaf Trailers Community on Facebook.
What is the current lead time?
From the time you place your deposit, current lead times are about 5–6 months. This may vary depending on demand and supply chain availability.
When can I expect my trailer to be completed?
Most builds are completed within our estimated window. That said, we recommend finalizing travel plans only after your trailer is fully finished and scheduled for pickup.
How long does it take to build a trailer?
Once a trailer enters production, it takes roughly three weeks to complete. We plan ahead by ordering components and materials several months in advance.
Can I make changes after I’ve submitted my deposit?
Yes! Changes are welcome up until your Order Review, which takes place about five months before your build enters production. After that, changes are not guaranteed.
Ordering & Logistics
How do I get started?
Fill out our interactive build form. Once received, we’ll follow up within 1–2 business days to discuss next steps and answer any questions.
How much is the deposit?
A $5,000 deposit is required to reserve your build. It’s applied to your final balance.
Do you offer discounts?
Yes. We offer a $500 discount to active duty or retired military personnel and first responders (valid ID required).
Is financing available?
Absolutely. We recommend Rock Solid Funding or your local bank or credit union. Many lenders offer flexible RV loan terms.
Can I set up a payment plan?
Not directly through us. Financing through a third-party provider may offer monthly payment options. Otherwise, the remaining balance is due when your trailer is completed.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. Our trailers come with a one-year warranty on Timberleaf craftsmanship and systems. Many third-party components also carry their own manufacturer warranties.
Do I need insurance?
We strongly recommend it. Most auto policies cover liability but not comprehensive. Protect your trailer against damage, theft, and unforeseen events.
How do I register my trailer?
We’ll provide all necessary paperwork: bill of sale, MSO (Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin), temporary plate, and tax documents. Bring these to your local DMV.
How do I prepare my vehicle for pickup?
You’ll need a 2-inch hitch receiver, a properly sized ball mount (with appropriate drop or rise), and a working 7-pin connector. Read our towing guide for more info.
What’s your refund policy?
You may cancel your order for a full refund up until your Order Review—roughly 5 months before production. After that, your deposit is non-refundable.
Can I buy accessories later?
Yes. Many items—like awnings, racks, and storage solutions—can be added post-purchase. However, key design choices (paint, laminate, suspension) must be locked in before production.
What should I expect on pickup day?
Plan for 1–2 hours. We’ll walk you through your trailer’s features, systems, maintenance tips, and provide a printed owner’s guide.
Can you ship my trailer?
While we don’t offer in-house delivery, many customers use third-party services like Uship or ShipLux. We’re happy to coordinate with your transporter.
Towing, Hitch & Electrical
What kind of electrical hookup do I need?
Your tow vehicle must have a fully functional 7-pin trailer connector. This connector powers the trailer’s running lights, turn signals, and brakes. It also allows the trailer to charge from the vehicle’s alternator. We recommend testing all lighting and brake connections before arriving for pickup.
What kind of hitch do I need?
A standard 2-inch receiver hitch is required. You’ll also need a ball mount with the appropriate rise or drop to level your trailer. Check out our Hitch Height Guide to calculate the correct fit based on your vehicle and the trailer’s coupler height.
Do I need trailer brakes?
Trailer brakes are included on our All-Road and Off-Road packages and are highly recommended for safety and stability. While not legally required in every state, they greatly improve towing performance. You’ll need a trailer brake controller installed in your tow vehicle—preferably a proportional one for the best experience.
Can my vehicle charge the trailer battery?
Yes, as long as your vehicle’s 7-pin connector includes a functioning 12V charge line. This allows your vehicle to top off the trailer’s battery while you drive. If you’re unsure, an auto electrician or RV shop can test and install one.
Can my vehicle tow your trailers?
Most likely, yes. Our Kestrel, Pika, and Classic models range from under 1,000 lbs to about 1,500 lbs dry weight, making them compatible with many SUVs, crossovers, and even some electric vehicles. Always check your manufacturer’s tow rating and confirm you have adequate tongue weight capacity. Visit our Dimensions Page for full specs.
Any towing tips for beginners?
Absolutely. Practice backing up in an empty lot, take wider turns, brake early, and allow more space for lane changes. Keep speeds moderate and check your mirrors often. Our towing guide is packed with helpful advice for new trailer owners.
Build Details
Can I request custom features?
We occasionally accommodate customizations, especially for cabinetry, finishes, and electrical systems. Reach out early in your build process to discuss ideas. Requests are subject to feasibility and may impact build time or cost.
What are the exterior dimensions?
Dimensions vary by model. Full specs for body size, overall length, width, height, tongue weight, and clearance are available on our Dimensions Page. This is especially useful for garage fit and storage planning.
What’s the difference between Classic and Pika?
The Classic is our largest model, featuring a spacious interior, full galley with sink and stove, Colorado queen mattress, and full insulation. The Pika is lighter and more compact, with a minimalist rear galley, a smaller mattress, and simplified design. The Kestrel is our lightest, most streamlined model—perfect for ultralight setups and budget-conscious adventurers.
How are trailers built?
Every Timberleaf trailer is handcrafted in our Colorado workshop. We build on a welded steel frame and use fine woodworking techniques for cabinetry and finishes. Materials are chosen for durability and aesthetics—Baltic Birch, powder-coated aluminum, and stainless steel are standard.
Will I fit in the bed?
The Classic features an 80″ Colorado Queen mattress—ideal for tall folks. The Pika and Kestrel use a 75″ full-size mattress. All models comfortably sleep two adults. We also offer custom mattress upgrades for added comfort and support.
Are trailers insulated?
Yes. The Classic has full insulation in walls and ceiling. The Pika and Kestrel are insulated in the ceiling. We use high-efficiency foam and reflective barriers to regulate temperature and improve comfort in all climates.
Where can I find weight specs?
All specs—including dry weight, tongue weight, and axle capacity—are available on our Dimensions Page. Use the interactive calculator to explore your options with different suspension packages and add-ons.
Do you sell plans or kits?
We do not offer DIY plans, kits, or unfinished shells. Our focus is on fully finished, road-ready trailers built with consistent quality and craftsmanship.
Storage & Maintenance
Will my trailer fit in my garage?
Most of our trailers will fit in a standard garage. The Classic stands about 67″ tall, and both the Pika and Kestrel are even shorter. Check our dimension chart to verify fit with your space and suspension package.
Can I store it outside long-term?
Yes. All Timberleaf trailers are weather-sealed for year-round use. That said, a breathable cover or carport will help preserve the exterior finish and trim, especially in harsh climates.
What maintenance is required?
At least once a year, check your tire pressure, inspect trailer lights, grease wheel bearings, clean your water system, and test your battery. We recommend semi-annual maintenance for frequent travelers. Refer to your owner’s manual for detailed intervals.
Is it secure to leave at camp?
Yes. Our doors and hatches are keyed. We also offer a heavy-duty tongue lock. For added peace of mind, use a wheel chock lock or remove the ball coupler handle. Many customers also deploy security cameras or GPS trackers when camping off-grid.
Our Shop
Can I see a trailer in person?
Absolutely! We welcome visits to our showroom in Grand Junction, Colorado. Appointments are encouraged so we can ensure a trailer is available to view and someone is available to assist you.
Where are you located?
Our address is 826 Justice Court, Grand Junction, CO 81506. We’re located just a few minutes from I-70 and the regional airport.
Do you rent trailers?
Not at this time, but we’re exploring future options. In the meantime, we occasionally have owners who are open to sharing their trailers—check out the Timberleaf Community group for leads.
Can I schedule a visit?
Yes! Just contact us in advance. We’re often able to accommodate same-day visits if a model is available, but scheduling ahead guarantees the best experience.
Do you have dealers?
No—we sell directly to you from our shop in Colorado. This allows us to maintain the highest quality and personal service throughout your trailer journey.
