VictronConnect Bluetooth App Troubleshooting Guide
Starting in 2024, every new Timberleaf trailer comes standard with Victron Bluetooth-enabled components—including solar charge controllers, battery monitors, and, if equipped, a VE.Direct Bluetooth Dongle for the inverter. If you own an earlier Timberleaf model, you can add this same modern capability by booking a service appointment with our team—we’ll be happy to upgrade your trailer so you can enjoy all the benefits.
Why use VictronConnect?
-
Easy Monitoring: Check your battery health, solar charging status, and inverter operation right from your phone—no crawling into cabinets or opening up panels.
-
Full Control: Adjust battery settings, change charge profiles, or update firmware—all in the app, all from wherever you’re camping.
-
Faster Troubleshooting: Get instant status updates and clear error messages if something goes wrong, helping you (or Timberleaf support) solve problems quickly.
-
Peace of Mind: Monitor your power system from inside your tow vehicle, at camp, or even just before bed—Bluetooth range covers your entire trailer area.
-
Future-Proofing: With VictronConnect, you can update your system’s firmware for the latest features and reliability improvements without bringing your trailer to the shop.
Upgrading is simple—just make a service appointment and we’ll bring your trailer’s electrical system up to date, so you can take advantage of modern, remote monitoring wherever you roam.
1. Downloading the VictronConnect App
-
Apple iPhone/iPad:
Download from the App Store -
Android Phones/Tablets:
Download from Google Play
2. Where to Find Your Bluetooth PIN
When connecting for the first time, you may need a 6-digit PIN:
-
Classic: PIN sticker is inside the center cabinet door in the galley.
-
Pika: PIN sticker is inside the left cabinet door in the galley.
-
Kestrel: PIN is in the folder with your user manuals (usually a Timberleaf envelope or binder).
Keep this PIN safe! You’ll need it for pairing any Victron device—battery monitor, solar controller, or inverter dongle.
3. Connecting to Victron Hardware
Timberleaf trailers use Victron Bluetooth on:
-
SmartSolar MPPT Solar Controllers
-
BMV-712 Battery Monitors
-
SmartShunt Monitors
-
VE.Direct Bluetooth Dongles (for monitoring Victron inverters with the app)
All hardware is located in the galley area. Bluetooth range is up to 25 feet—inside or outside the trailer, just stay nearby.
4. Connection Steps
-
Turn ON your trailer’s main battery disconnect switch.
-
Enable Bluetooth on your phone or tablet.
-
Open the VictronConnect app.
-
Wait up to 20 seconds for your Victron device(s) to appear in the device list.
-
Tap your device name to connect. If asked for a PIN, enter the one found in your trailer (see above).
-
If connecting to an inverter, use the VE.Direct Bluetooth Dongle, which shows up as a separate device in the app.
5. If You Can’t Connect
Try these steps if the app doesn’t see your Victron device:
-
Check distance: Get within 25 feet of the galley cabinet area.
-
Check power: Make sure your main battery switch is ON and your batteries are charged.
-
Check Bluetooth: Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone/tablet.
-
App permissions: On some devices, “Location” permission must be enabled for Bluetooth scanning.
-
Close extra apps: Turn off other phones/tablets that may be connected to Victron hardware.
-
Restart: Turn your phone’s Bluetooth OFF and ON, or restart your phone, then try again.
-
Update the app: Make sure you have the latest version of VictronConnect.
If prompted for a firmware update, allow it—this solves most “weird” connection issues.
6. Special Notes for Timberleaf
-
You can monitor solar, battery, and inverter data (if equipped with the VE.Direct Dongle) all from the same app.
-
Bluetooth PINs are unique to each trailer and device—refer to the sticker or manual folder as described above.
-
Bluetooth range is about 25 feet—it doesn’t matter if you’re inside or outside, just stay close to the galley.

Lost Bluetooth PIN?
Follow the PIN reset directions found on the Victron Energy support site.
You will need your device’s PUK code to reset the PIN.-
The PUK code can be found:
-
On a sticker attached to the solar controller
-
On a sticker on the back of the BMV-712 battery monitor
-
On a sticker on the back of the VE.Direct Bluetooth Dongle (for inverters)
-
-
Enter the PUK code in the VictronConnect app when prompted.
- Note that retrieving the PUK code may involve removing screws and opening panels. Use care to avoid unintentionally damaging wiring or devices in these locations.
-
-
Inverter Bluetooth:
If your inverter was installed by Timberleaf, it will always have a Victron VE.Direct Bluetooth Dongle.-
If the inverter was installed by the customer or another party and does not have a dongle, Timberleaf cannot provide support for those units.
