Propex HS2211 Heater: Operation & Troubleshooting Guide

The Propex HS2211 propane heater is the standard heat upgrade in Timberleaf trailers, built for reliable, efficient comfort in all seasons. Use this guide to safely operate, reset, and troubleshoot your heater—no matter which thermostat you have.

Basic Operation

  • Power Up:

    • Ensure your trailer’s 12V battery is charged and switched on—the heater requires 12V DC for its fan and control system.

  • Fuel Check:

    • Make sure your propane tank is connected, the valve is open, and you have fuel for heating.

  • Set the Thermostat:

    • Trailers built 2022 and earlier:
Use the round control knob (usually marked with a blue/red scale). Turn to your desired temperature—the heater cycles on and off automatically.

    • Trailers built after 2022:
Use the digital wall-mounted thermostat. Set your preferred temperature; the heater will maintain the cabin accordingly.

  • Venting:

    • The heater uses two dedicated ducts for outside air intake and exhaust. Double-check these are clear and unobstructed for safe operation.

Reset Button: Your First Line of Defense

Many heater issues can be solved with a simple reset:

  • Location:

    • The heater is mounted on the undercarriage (beneath the floor, often near the axle).

    • The reset button sits directly above the wiring connector, between the two air ducts, protected by a black rubber weather boot.

  • How to Reset:

    • Reach under the trailer to locate the heater.

    • Lift the rubber boot to reveal the reset button.

    • Press and hold for 3–5 seconds.

    • Replace the boot to keep the connector weatherproof.

    • Try restarting your heater using your thermostat or knob.

Tip: Resetting often clears common issues like lockouts, safety shutdowns, or propane interruptions.

Common Issues & Quick Fixes

Heater won’t turn on

  • Try the reset button first (see above).

  • Ensure your trailer battery is charged and the disconnect switch is ON.

  • Turn the thermostat (or knob) up and listen for the fan.

  • Make sure your propane tank is not empty and the valve is open.

  • Check the heater fuse in the cabin fuse panel.

Heater fan runs, but no heat

  • Double-check propane supply.

  • Cycle the heater OFF and ON several times (especially after a tank swap) to clear air from the line.

  • Ensure intake/exhaust ducts are clear.

Heater shuts off unexpectedly

  • Intake/exhaust ducts may be blocked, or heater airflow may be restricted by gear or bedding.

  • Thermostat/knob may be set too low—try turning it up.

  • Propane tank may be nearly empty, or low outdoor temperatures may affect gas flow.

Red/amber error light or repeated shut-downs

  • Look for blinking lights or beep codes—these indicate safety lockouts or faults.

  • Try pressing the reset button under the trailer.

  • If the issue persists, check battery voltage, propane level, and make sure vents are open.
