General Electrical Troubleshooting for Timberleaf Trailers

(For Timberleaf trailers, all models and years)

Getting Started

This guide helps you diagnose and resolve common electrical issues with your Timberleaf trailer.
It’s written for everyday owners—no electrical experience needed.
If you ever feel unsure, or see melted parts, burning smells, or anything unsafe, stop and contact Timberleaf for help.

1. No Power Anywhere in the Trailer

  • Check the battery disconnect switch:
Make sure it is turned ON.
2016-2022 Classic: Located under sink, on left side of cabinet.
2020-2022 Pika: Located under counter, in rear of battery compartment
2022-2025 All Models: Located on main control panel.

  • Check your battery level:
If the battery is low or empty, your lights, outlets, and accessories won’t work.
Charge your trailer battery fully before testing again.

  • Look for a blown main fuse:
Timberleaf trailers equipped with a Progressive Dynamics power center have a main battery fuse.  Users of the PD4150 series have a single 40A ATC fuse in position #1.  Trailers equipped with the PD4000 series have a pair of 30A ATC fuses located above the branch circuit panel.
Replace only with the same type and rating.
Not sure which power center your trailer has?

  • Check all 12V and main switches:
Make sure no switches (including master or control panel switches) are turned OFF.

2. No Power at Outlets (On Battery/Inverter or Shore Power)

  • Check the inverter switch:
For trailers with an inverter, use the labeled remote switch on the main control panel to turn the inverter ON.

  • If on shore power:

    • Confirm your shore power cord is plugged in at both ends.

    • Test the outlet you’re using (campground post, home outlet) with a simple device like your phone charger.

    • Reset all GFCI outlets (press the RESET button).

    • Flip any tripped circuit breakers inside your trailer back to ON.

    • If outlets still do not work on shore power, use the AC Outlet Troubleshooter

  • If on battery/inverter:

    • Be sure your battery is charged and the inverter switch is ON.

    • Plug in a low-power device such as a phone charger or laptop.

    • Remember: The inverter is designed for low-power devices (maximum 375 watts continuous).
CPAP machine, laptops, phone chargers—okay. Coffee makers, hair dryers, toasters—not okay.

    • If no outlets work and the battery is charged, check for warning lights on the inverter or control panel.

    • See the inverter troubleshooting guide for details.

3. Dead or Low Battery

  • Check your battery monitor or voltage display:

    • Lithium batteries: Typically above 13V when full, but may drop quickly when nearly empty.

    • AGM (sealed lead-acid): Should be above 12.6V when fully charged.

  • Recharge your battery if it’s low.

    • Solar, shore power, or your vehicle (if equipped) can charge your trailer’s battery.

  • If the battery won’t charge:

    • Double-check the charger is ON, shore power is available, and that the charger is set to the correct battery type (Lithium or AGM, depending on your trailer).

    • If your trailer has a battery monitor, check for any warning messages (consult your battery or VictronConnect app guide).

4. Blown Fuse

  • Find the fuse panel:
Located inside the trailer, inside the power center.

  • Check fuses for blown indicators:
Replace blown fuses with the exact same size and type.
Never bypass a fuse or use a larger one.

  • If a fuse blows again immediately:
    Stop troubleshooting and contact Timberleaf.

5. Solar Charging Issues

  • Check the solar panel is plugged in and clean:
Remove any dirt or debris from the panel.

  • Open the VictronConnect app (if your trailer is equipped with a Victron solar controller).
The app can show live solar charging and any error messages.

  • If you have no charging, or see an error in the app:

6. Interior or Exterior Lights Not Working

  • Check the battery and disconnect switch:
Low battery or an OFF switch will cause all lights to be out.

  • Try toggling each light’s switch.

  • Check the fuse for the lighting circuit (see your fuse panel map).

7. Appliances Not Working (Fridge, MaxxFan, Heater.)

8. Safety Reminders

  • Only qualified technicians should open or modify electrical panels, outlets, or the inverter yourself.

  • Do not attempt to repair, bypass, or alter wiring.

  • If you see melted plastic, discoloration, or smell burning,
turn OFF the main battery switch, unplug from shore power, and contact Timberleaf immediately.
